I don't know how to stop my upstairs neighbor from being so loud.?

A guy and (from what my roommate says) 2 girls moved in upstairs from us and they quite often at any given time (including between the hours of 12am - 10 am) they stomp their feet everywhere they go in that apartment, play loud music right above my room, and slam doors. This pretty much goes on all day but I'm really only bothered with it when I sleep or my boyfriend (who is a light sleeper) spends the night. How can I fix this because I've seen the man and he just scowled at me when I gave him a friendly welcome to the neighborhood. I just want to live below someone who uses a little consideration. How can I fix this?
