Microphone issues on computer?

I have a lenovo touchscreen computer and its windows 7. it has a microphone but it can only record sounds that are made from the computer but no external sounds. is there any way i can record both external and internal sounds? thanks in advance. also, ik that this computer has a mic but when i open the sounds file it shows that it doesnt have an internal mic. ;o
